南极埃默里冰架前端冰裂隙变化监测研究

摘 要: 利用欧洲地球环境监测卫星(Environmental Satellite,ENVISAT)所携带的C波段高级合成孔径雷达(Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar,ASAR)数据和美国航空航天局(National Aeronautics and Space Administration,NASA)陆地卫星Landsat数据,对2004年至2016年期间南极埃默里冰架(Amery ice shelf)前端冰裂隙变化过程进行监测和分析。研究监测了埃默里冰架前端冰裂隙T1和T2的长度、宽度及冰裂隙推移速度,并分析了冰裂隙末端在冰裂隙缝合区内的扩张特征。研究结果显示,2004年至2016年期间冰裂隙T1和T2的长度和宽度不断扩张,冰裂隙T1的长度年际变化速率总体高于冰裂隙T2,但是冰裂隙T1的宽度年际增长率低于冰裂隙T2,冰裂隙宽度的扩张不一定导致冰裂隙长度增加。此外,通过分析冰裂隙在冰架缝合区内的扩张特征,发现冰流缝合区可以促使冰裂隙扩张,进一步验证了冰裂隙扩张主要受冰架内部应力的影响。

Abstract: We used Environmental Satellite (ENVISAT) C-band Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar (ASAR) data and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Landsat satellite data to monitor the lengths, widths and advance rates of two rifts T1 and T2 on the Amery ice shelf front from 2004 to 2016, and we also analyzed the propagation characteristics of rift tip in suture zones. The results show that the lengths and widths of two rifts have been propagating continuously, the annual length propagation rate of rift T1 is higher than rift T2, but the width propagation rate of rift T1 is lower than rift T2. Rift widening can’t necessarily result in length propagation. Besides, we find that suture zones can accelerate rift propagation rate, which verifies that rifts on Amery ice shelf front are mainly controlled by strain field distribution within ice shelf.
