Abstract: | Myopia has become the most common refractive error, which can endanger the public health. In China, the prevalence of myopia among adolescents is still increasing year by year and the situation becomes severe. However, the pathogenesis of myopia remains unclear. The neurotransmitter dopamine (DA) and its receptors have emerged an important role in the retinal visual transmission pathway, regulating ocular growth and development. Changes of retinal DA content and DA receptor activity can effectively control the occurrence and development of experimental myopia. This paper will summarize the interventions of DA and DA receptors in myopia animal models, which may provide new ideas for exploring the pathogenesis of myopia and developing drugs to intervene myopia. |
