一种新的基于边缘检测的车牌定位方法

摘 要: 重点对车牌定位进行了研究,通过对图像处理和图像技术分析以及对问题本身的详细考察,提出了基于边缘检测的新的车辆牌照定位方法。首先用边缘检测算子(Sobel算子)提取边缘信息并进行二值化处理;然后对其垂直投影确定车牌垂直位置,再进行水平投影得到车牌的水平位置,从而定位出车牌。并利用Matlab 6.5对各种算法的边缘检测进行仿真,以检验算法的结果,论证得出该方法可行、适用。

Abstract: This paper studies license plate location. The image processing and image analysis technology and the license plate location problem itself were studied in detail, and a new license plate location method was brought forward. First, edge information was extracted by edge detection operator (sobel operator) and applied with binary processing; and then the vertical and horizontal positions of the license plate were determined separately by vertical and horizontal projections to the edge information, thereby positioning the license plate. Various edge detection operators were simulated by use of Matlab 6.5. The results proved that this method was feasible and applicable.
