依据被动测量的链路负载均衡

摘 要: 研究提出一种实时在线的流量工程方法,在多条路径之间实现负载均衡,即依据被动测量的链路负载均衡(load adaptation based on measuring passively,LAMP)。LAMP将流量从高利用率的链路转移到低利用率的链路上,转移的依据是以被动方式收集的信息,包括数据包往返时延(round trip time,RTT)和链路利用率。LAMP不需要周期性地探测网络,不需要路由器之间的大量通信,更不需要对输入的流量和网络拓扑做任何假设。评估结果表明,LAMP能够有效降低链路利用率,而且具有良好的稳定性。

Title: Load adaptation based on measuring passively

Abstract: This paper proposes an online traffic engineering method that balances the load among multiple paths according to the information (round trip time and link utilization) passively collected, i.e load adaptation based on measuring passively (LAMP). LAMP alleviates congestions by shifting the overspill traffic from over-utilized links to low-utilized links, and the transfer is based on the information collected in a passive manner, including data packet round trip time (RTT). However, it does not need to periodically probe the network or require excessive communications between routers, nor does it make any assumption on input traffic (traffic matrix) and network topology. Moreover, LAMP does not need support and can be implemented over existing routing protocols. Evaluation results show that LAMP can effectively reduce link utilizations, and meanwhile maintain favorable stability.
