基于双空芯光纤的高灵敏度曲率传感器

摘 要: 对一种基于双空芯光纤(twin-hole fiber,THF)的高灵敏度曲率传感器进行研究,传感器由双空芯光纤两端直接熔接单模光纤(single-mode fiber,SMF)构成。双空芯光纤是一种石英包层中有两个对称空气孔结构的新型光纤,非圆对称结构的光纤在弯曲时会更大程度地改变光纤内部模式的干涉清况,这对于研究不同方向弯曲的传感特性有更大意义。曲率传感实验所用的双空芯光纤长1 cm,保持双孔平行,并将双空芯光纤固定在直尺上,当曲率变化范围在2.8~4.5 m1时,实验结果拟合后得到的曲率传感灵敏度为101.487 nm/m1,线性度高达0.995 21. 基于双空芯光纤的曲率传感器结构简单、灵敏度高、线性度好,该传感器具有很好的研究和应用价值。

Title: High-sensitivity curvature sensor based on twin-hole fiber

Abstract: A high-sensitivity curvature sensor based on twin-hole fiber (THF) is proposed and studied in this paper, which is composed of THF directly fused with the single-mode fiber (SMF). THF is a new type of fiber with symmetric air hole structures in the quartz cladding. The fiber with non-circular symmetry structure will change the interference condition of the internal mode of the fiber to a greater extent when it is bent, and it has more significance for studying the sensing characteristics of bending in different directions. The sensor with THF of 1 cm long is parallelly fixed on the ruler for curvature sensing experiments. Experimental results show that the sensitivity of the curvature sensor is 101.487 nm/m1 and linearity is 0.995 21 when the curvature varies from 2.8-4.5 m1. The curvature sensor based on THF has high research and application value because of its simple structure, high sensitivity and good linearity.
